1) Why SAFETY Mark is important?
When purchasing new appliances, it is important to keep safety considerations in mind and not base purchase decisions solely around cost and aesthetics. Protect your family by purchasing products carrying the SAFETY Mark.
2) What is the SAFETY Mark?
Household gas and electrical appliances posing higher potential hazards to their consumers are required by law to be affixed with a valid SAFETY Mark before they can be sold in Singapore.
In order for a household gas or electrical appliance to qualify for a SAFETY Mark, its design must be tested and certified by the relevant accredited bodies to comply with the appropriate "Safety Standards. “
3) Why should you insist on the SAFETY Mark?
The SAFETY Mark indicates that the products’ design has been tested and certified to be compliant with the relevant safety standards. For most appliance categories, the presence of the SAFETY Mark also indicates that internal safeguards have been incorporated to protect against fire and electrical hazards.
4) What is Gang?
'Gang’ describes the number of switches on the plate.
5) What is 1Way, 2Way and Immediate switches?
- 1 Way Switches: If a light switch is ‘1 way’ this means it is just an on/off switch. This is the simplest type of switch that you can get. The single switch controls a single light (or lighting circuit).
2 Way Switches: A ‘2 way’ switch means there is another switch controlling the same light. These are often used on a stair case, large room with switches by each door.
- Intermediate Switches: If you need to control the lights from three places, say you have 3 entrances to a large room and need a light switch next to each one, you will need an intermediate switch. The light(s) can be switched on and off from anyone of 3 places.
